By repurposing non-biodegradable plastics such as drink bottles, fabric made from post-consumer waste helps reduce potential landfill waste and requires significantly less energy to produce than virgin polyester.

Our GRS Certification
GRS - the Global Recycled Standard - is the leading international standard for recycled content in textile products. It defines requirements for the certification of recycled input materials and responsible social, environmental and chemical practices throughout the supply chain, from raw material through to finished product, ensuring transparency and traceability of recycled content claims.
We are proud to be certified to GRS by Control Union. We are audited annually to ensure our continued adherence to the Standard. Look for the GRS logo and our certified recycled content percentage on our products.
The details
The fabric's history dates to the early 1990s, when the first efforts to transform recycled plastic into wearable fibres began. Today, it's widely used as a certified recycled material option, offering reliable durability and performance.
The process
1. The plastic that forms the initial input is post-consumer waste, meaning the material that has been used by an end consumer for its intended purpose (such as a plastic drink bottle) and then discarded. In simple terms: it's been bought, used, and thrown away before being collected for recycling. It is then carefully sorted by colour and type and thoroughly cleaned.
2. The cleaned plastic is shredded into small flakes, which are melted into chips or pellets. These are cleaned again to remove any final contamination before being melted once more and extruded into fine, continuous filaments.
3. After cooling, the fibres are stretched to increase their strength and flexibility, then spun into yarn. This yarn is knitted into our signature jersey or woven into our luxurious satin.
4. To achieve the super-soft hand-feel of our signature jersey, the fabric undergoes a process called peaching. The surface is gently brushed to raise fine fibres, creating that irresistibly velvety feel.
5. Satin is woven using a specific technique that creates a smooth, glossy surface and a distinctive sheen.
