99% of our jersey polyester pyjamas are made from certified recycled fibres.

Many of our bestselling styles and widely recognised novelty prints are made from certified recycled fibres; a fabric loved for its super soft hand-feel and more sustainable credentials . By repurposing non-biodegradable materials like plastic bottles, fabric made from recycled fibres helps to reduce waste that could otherwise end in landfill, as well as cut carbon emissions by using up to 50% less energy compared to traditional polyester production.

The details

The fabrics history dates back to the early 1990s when the first efforts to transform recycled plastic into wearable fibres began. Today, it stands as a testament to innovation in more sustainable fashion, combining durability, performance, and environmental responsibility.

The process

1. Plastic collected from recycling programs, landfills and occasionally directly from the ocean is carefully sorted by colour and type, and then thoroughly cleaned.

2. The cleaned plastic is shredded into small flakes, which are melted down and extruded into fine fibres.

3. After cooling, the fibres are stretched to increase their strength and flexibility before being spun into yarn. This yarn is then knitted into our signature jersey.

4. To achieve the super soft hand-feel of our signature jersey, the fabric undergoes a process called peaching, whereby the surface is gently brushed to raise fine fibres.
