Organic cotton is a fabric celebrated for its numerous benefits for the wearer and the environment. Renowned for its breathability and softness, this fabric is perfect for those seeking both comfort and quality so it's no surprise that it's a favourite fabric amongst our community. Our cotton varies in thickness, warmth and strength depending on the season; from cosy long jersey sets in Autumn/Winter, to lightweight cheesecloth and elegant poplin sets in Spring/Summer.​

Why do we use certified organic cotton?​

Certifying our organic cotton ensures the fibres are processed, manufactured and labelled in a way that aligns with strict ecological and social guidelines. It also ensures that over 70% of a garment is organic cotton and that workers’ rights are protected, conditions are safe, wastewater is monitored and dyes are low-impact. This commitment to eco-friendly production has roots in the organic movement of the 1970s, which sought to create healthier and more sustainable textile options.

Organic cotton farming

The production of certified organic cotton involves a careful and eco-conscious process. Farmers use natural fertilisers and pest control methods, ensuring a more eco-friendly approach. After harvesting, the cotton is processed in ways that preserve its purity. Organic cotton farming uses significantly less water than conventional methods, as well as reducing the use of toxic chemicals.

The process

1. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or GMOs, using natural methods like crop rotation, composting and organic fertilisers
to prevent soil erosion and retain moisture.

2. After harvesting, the cotton buds are first cleaned. The fibres are then separated from the seeds through a process called ginning before being spun into yarn.

3. Our organic cotton is either knitted or woven, with woven cotton providing breathability in warm months, and knitted cotton offering stretch and year-round comfort.

4. To achieve its irresistibly soft texture, our organic cotton undergoes a peaching process, gently brushing the surface without impacting durability.
